Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has earned a Silver Certification in the United Kingdom for his 2023 album, Timeless.
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) grants this certification to albums that sell over 60,000 physical copies or surpass 100,000 units through combined streams and downloads.
The news was confirmed by music analytics platform Chart Data, which reported that Timeless had exceeded 100,000 units in the UK. This marks a significant milestone in Davido’s career, solidifying his global presence and reinforcing his position as one of Africa’s top artists.
Since its release in March 2023, Timeless has broken multiple streaming records across various platforms. It became the most-streamed album in a day on Spotify Nigeria and reached new heights on Boomplay, Audiomack, and YouTube.
Fans across the world embraced the album’s fresh sound, which blends Afrobeats with other global music styles. Songs like “Unavailable” and “Feel” quickly gained popularity and were featured on major playlists, contributing to the album’s growing reach.
Following the album’s release, Davido launched the Timeless Tour, performing in major cities such as London, New York, and Paris. The tour drew thousands of fans and helped spread the influence of African music across continents.
The album also gained recognition in the award scene. Davido received a nomination for ‘Song of the Year’ at the Headies and earned two Grammy nominations, one for ‘Best Global Album’ and another for ‘Best Global Music Performance’.
Timeless marks an important moment not just for Davido but for the rise of Afrobeats worldwide. With its global appeal and chart success, the album reflects how Nigerian music continues to break boundaries and reach new audiences.
