Asa Asika, the longtime manager of Afrobeats star Davido, has declared that the singer is the most influential person in Nigeria.
Speaking during a recent interview on the Zeph podcast, Asika stood firm on his belief, despite what others may think.
“Davido is mad influential. I don’t care what anybody says, I think he is the most influential person in Nigeria. I have seen it firsthand,” Asika said.
Asika’s comments have sparked fresh debate in the music industry and among fans, many of whom have long compared Davido’s influence with that of his fellow superstars, Wizkid and Burna Boy.
David Adeleke, is one of Nigeria’s most prominent entertainers. Beyond music, he is known for his charitable acts, public visibility, and active presence on social media. With over 30 million followers on Instagram alone, Davido is the most followed Nigerian across major platforms.
However, Asika argued that real influence goes beyond numbers. He said he has personally witnessed how the Skelewu singer’s presence can shift a room, inspire action, and open doors.

“I’ve seen decisions change and people take action simply because he is involved. That’s true influence,” Asika said.
About Davido
His involvement in political and social matters has also added to his reputation. During the #EndSARS protests in 2020, he stood with Nigerian youths demanding police reform. His decision to meet with government officials and speak publicly about the issue earned him praise from many Nigerians.
He is also known for his generosity. From giving scholarships to paying medical bills and supporting struggling fans.
While the singer’s online following is unmatched, others point to Wizkid’s quiet influence and Burna Boy’s international accolades. Still, Asika remains confident.
“People have their favourites, but when it comes to overall impact, music, lifestyle, social reach, and connection to the people, Davido leads,” he said.
