A fresh wave of controversy has hit Nigeria’s music scene after Tufab, an associate of Afrobeats star Wizkid, accused fellow singer Davido of threatening his life.
The allegation surfaced on Wednesday, when Tufab took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share what he described as threatening messages from Davido.
The development has since set social media abuzz, dividing fans and drawing widespread reactions.
In a series of leaked messages, Davido reportedly confronted Tufab over being called “Osakpolo,” a nickname the DMW boss claimed was offensive. The singer allegedly went further, warning Tufab and hinting at cult-related undertones.
“My name is not Osakpolo. I’m warning u. Ok continue. That’s all I will say. I Dey warn u. Wetin wan happen. U be bird, I be Aye. Make we play d game,” one of the purported messages read.
The language, particularly Davido’s self-reference as a member of “Aye” fraternity and description of Tufab as a “bird,” has raised eyebrows and sparked speculation about the undertone of the exchange.
Reacting publicly, Tufab denied ever calling Davido the name in question or being involved in any cult activities. He insisted that he had no issues with Davido and was shocked by the alleged threats.

“But I didn’t even call u that. And please stop warning me bro. Abeg, me and u don pass all these levels. I’ve never said anything hurtful to u,” Tufab wrote in response.
In a longer statement shared alongside the screenshots, he distanced himself from any cult or fraternity affiliation.
“I’m bringing this to the general public as a disclaimer against my personality. First of all, let me say I am not affiliated with any cult or fraternity, and I don’t have a problem with anyone who is. As you can see in this screenshot, I’m being threatened, and this is not the first time. It is now becoming too often,” Tufab explained.
He further added that if anything were to happen to him, Davido should be held responsible. “My life is under threat and if anything happens to me, y’all know who to hold responsible. The only reason I’m doing this is to protect myself.”
The allegations immediately went viral, fueling heated debates across social platforms.
On X, many users condemned Davido, urging him to address the matter publicly and clear the air. Some fans accused him of abusing his influence, while others argued that the screenshots could have been taken out of context.
Critics noted that this was not the first time Davido’s name had been linked to controversies involving alleged cultism. However, supporters of the singer insisted that without verified evidence, it was unfair to jump to conclusions.
The incident has also reignited long-standing rivalries between fan bases of Davido and Wizkid. Some Wizkid FC supporters used the controversy to criticize Davido, while Davido’s loyal 30BG fans pushed back, accusing Tufab of seeking attention by dragging the superstar into unnecessary drama.
As of press time, Davido has not publicly responded to the allegations, nor has his management issued any statement.
The silence has only fueled speculation, with many waiting to see whether the Afrobeats star will dismiss the claims or clarify his side of the story.
The music industry in Nigeria has long witnessed high-profile feuds among top stars, often spilling from behind the scenes onto social media.
But Tufab’s decision to make the alleged threats public adds a new layer of seriousness, particularly as he framed the matter as a potential threat to his life.
Observers say the matter could escalate if not addressed quickly, given the influence of both artists’ camps and the sensitivity of cult-related allegations in Nigeria.
For now, the controversy continues to dominate discussions online, with many calling for restraint, accountability, and a peaceful resolution between the parties involved.
