A senior cleric has broken his silence amid the ongoing controversy involving Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, insisting that the matter is now firmly before the law and should be allowed to run its full course without public interference.
Speaking during a church address, the cleric stressed that while prayer remains central to his response, he is also committed to following due legal process.

He said his approach is guided by faith, patience, and respect for the rule of law, rather than emotional reactions or public accusations.
According to him, there is a clear legal framework in the country that governs allegations and public statements, and anyone who makes claims must be ready to prove them in court.
“Why we do what we do is because, in the place of prayer, study, and waiting on the Lord, we also go by His instructions,” he said. “There is a law in this country that works, and we follow the law. The law is taking its course.”
He emphasised that silence should not be mistaken for weakness or fear. Instead, he described it as a deliberate and mature decision to allow justice to take its proper path.
“Everything you say about anybody, you must be able to prove it in a court of law,” he added. “So don’t worry, we are not quiet. We are praying, and we are following the mature way we should follow. The truth will come out.”
The cleric explained that he could not disclose details of the case publicly because security agencies and legal authorities are already handling the matter. He warned that speaking openly at this stage could jeopardise ongoing investigations and court proceedings.
“Because the authorities are in the matter, I cannot say it in public,” he said. “You will be surprised about the people involved. I have received reports, and you will be shocked by those behind the scenes.”
He suggested that the case goes beyond what has been discussed on social media, hinting that influential figures may be connected to the situation. However, he maintained that he would not interfere with the legal process by making premature statements.
“It is before the authorities,” he said. “I will not jeopardise the investigation or the court process that has already started. He who alleges must prove.”
New Daily Prime recalls that the arrest of actress Doris Ogala triggered intense debate online, drawing reactions from fans, critics, and fellow celebrities.
Social media platforms were flooded with opinions, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding her arrest and the wider implications of the case.
Following her arrest, a popular Nigerian influencer publicly called for Doris Ogala’s release. The influencer also issued a strong warning, threatening to release what was described as alleged criminal evidence against the cleric and some of his associates if she was not freed.
The statement further fuelled online tension, deepening the divide between supporters of both parties. While some netizens demanded transparency and accountability, others urged caution, warning against trial by social media.
As the controversy continues to unfold, observers say the situation highlights the growing clash between public opinion and legal procedure in high-profile cases.
For now, all eyes remain on the authorities as investigations continue, with many awaiting the outcome of the legal process that both sides insist will reveal the truth.
