Controversial singer and social commentator Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has responded to the recent apology from Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), regarding his past statements on tithing.
Pastor Adeboye recently apologised for previously stating that “non-tithers would not make it to heaven,” clarifying that this claim was not biblically accurate.
He acknowledged that his earlier remarks were a mistake and not rooted in scripture.
Charly Boy, however, criticised the apology, noting that it holds little value unless Mr Adeboye takes further action, suggesting he should return the tithes collected from his church members.
Charly Boy said: “I truly believe that a lot of the fakest people are found in churches. My opinion, not yours. Your apology doesn’t mean anything unless you promise to return the tithe money from those who gave it, thinking they could bribe their way to heaven.”

He further criticised religious leaders, accusing them of misleading their congregations with what he referred to as ‘absurd lamba’ (false claims).
“Sometimes the nicest people you meet may have bodies covered with tattoos, while the most bitter, judgmental, envious, and wicked people go to church on Sundays,” he added.
Charly Boy also pointed to Mr Adeboye’s earlier controversial teachings, such as advising followers to discard their televisions, which he described as an early sign that Adeboye’s ‘path was not pure.’
He further said, “From the moment you told people decades ago to throw away their TVs, I knew something wasn’t right with someone who claims to ‘drink tea with God.’”
Charly Boy’s response underscores the ongoing debate surrounding religious practices and financial contributions within the church, sparking strong reactions from the outspoken artist.

“There is nothing worse than a fault-finding finger-pointing Pastor who is as fake as the blings of a wanna be artist. Apology? When you know exactly what you’re doing. Nonsense Dia Father’s.”
