- Tiwa Savage ended professional ties with manager Mekka Millions
Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage officially ended her professional relationship with longtime manager Mekka Millions.
The singer announced on Saturday evening through a series of posts on her Instagram Story. In the posts, Tiwa warned the public, especially show promoters and business partners, to stop contacting Mekka for bookings or other engagements.
She made it clear that she no longer worked with him and would not be responsible for any financial losses resulting from deals made through him.
“I do not work with Mekka anymore,” she wrote. “Please, for bookings, contact Vanessa Amadi. Any bookings that go through any other channel will be void, and you will lose your money.”
The announcement marked the end of an 11-year working relationship. Mekka took over as Tiwa’s manager in 2013 after her ex-husband and former manager, Tunji Balogun (popularly known as Tee Billz), stepped down.
Tiwa also introduced Vanessa Amadi as her new manager and urged her fans and business contacts to update their records and use the right channel moving forward.
The move signalled a new phase in Tiwa Savage’s career. Although she did not reveal the reason behind the split, her statement made it clear that the decision was final.
The news stirred reactions from fans and industry insiders, with many speculating on what the change might mean for her future. For now, Tiwa seemed ready to move ahead with a new team and a fresh direction.
- Davido said he regretted hustling
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, revealed he regretted being hardworking despite coming from a wealthy family.
The singer, whose father is billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, made the statement during an interview with music executive Bankulli. The conversation took place shortly after Davido’s sold-out concert at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday night.
Davido admitted that the demands of his career had taken a mental toll on him. He described the stress of constantly pushing himself in an industry filled with pressure and expectations. According to him, his work ethic often left him drained, even though he did not need to work for financial gain.
“I regretted being hardworking,” he said. “The stress and mental strength this kind of work requires, especially when so many things are against you, can be exhausting.”
However, he explained that his drive was not motivated by money. “It’s not about the money. I have billions of dollars already. Even if I stop working today, I’d still be very comfortable,” he said.
Davido stressed that his passion for music and love for his fans kept him going. He said the joy of performing and connecting with people around the world inspired him to keep showing up, regardless of the pressure.
The ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ crooner continues to make waves globally, using his platform to share both success and vulnerability.
- CDQ revealed why he rejected Davido’s offer to sign him
Popular Nigerian rapper CDQ revealed that Afrobeats superstar Davido once offered him a recording contract, but he turned it down.
In a recent interview with the Echo Room, CDQ shared the story behind the offer. After his hit single “Indomie” gained massive attention, Davido reached out to him. He told CDQ he had just earned a lot from his African tour and wanted to invest that money by signing him to his record label, DMW, to help make him the biggest rapper in Africa.
However, CDQ said he insisted that his producer, Masterkraft, be involved in any deal. So, the two met with Davido to discuss terms. At the meeting, Masterkraft proposed a partnership instead of a full recording contract, highlighting that CDQ was already making waves on the streets and had built his movement.
Unfortunately, Davido declined the partnership offer, and the deal fell through.
CDQ explained, “Davido reached out to me through Twitter back then. He said he wanted to sign me and invest his earnings to grow my career. But I told him Masterkraft had to be part of it. We met, and Masterkraft suggested a partnership instead. Davido said no, so it didn’t work out.”
Despite the missed deal, CDQ has continued to build his career independently, earning respect as one of Nigeria’s top rappers.
