Afrobeats singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has denied claims that he attacked Wizkid’s personal disc jockey, DJ Tunez, with the help of ten other men.
The Grammy-winning artiste reacted to the allegations during a livestream with singer Shallipopi on Wednesday night.

His comments come days after an altercation involving him and DJ Tunez at a nightclub in Lagos sparked widespread controversy across social media.
Following the incident, both DJ Tunez and his boss, Wizkid, accused Burna Boy of relying on members of his team to attack the disc jockey.
DJ Tunez had earlier claimed that Burna Boy and several members of his entourage assaulted him during an event at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats gathering in Lagos.
Wizkid also reacted angrily on social media, accusing Burna Boy of “jumping a DJ with 10 men.”
The allegation quickly generated outrage online, with many fans criticising Burna Boy and describing the reported attack as unfair.
The Nigerian DJ Association, NDJ, later announced that it had temporarily removed Burna Boy’s songs from its members’ playlists while it investigates the incident.
However, speaking during the livestream, Burna Boy strongly rejected the claim that he was accompanied by ten men during the confrontation.
According to him, he acted alone.
“Shalli, no be 10 people touch that guy, na only me,” Burna Boy said while speaking to Shallipopi.
The singer went further by swearing that he was telling the truth.
“I swear with my mama. If I dey lie, make Ogun carry my mama go anywhere wey Wizkid mama dey,” he said.
Although he denied that other people participated in the attack, Burna Boy admitted that he physically assaulted DJ Tunez.
According to him, he slapped the DJ twice during the altercation.
“Na only me – two slap na im I give am,” he added.
The singer also argued that if he had truly joined forces with his security team or entourage against DJ Tunez, the outcome would have been much worse.
According to him, DJ Tunez would likely have ended up in the hospital.
Burna Boy insisted that the fact that the DJ was able to leave the club and later make social media posts was proof that the claims had been exaggerated.
He said, “If na me and my people really touch am, by now dem for don carry am go hospital.”
The African Giant crooner further revealed that after the incident, he remained at the club for several hours.
According to him, he stayed back because he expected DJ Tunez and his friends to retaliate.
However, he claimed that no one confronted him.
Instead, he said he later discovered that DJ Tunez had gone online to complain about the incident.
“I still stay there for like four hours after. I dey wait make dem come back,” Burna Boy said.
“But the next thing I see na social media rant.”
The singer also alleged that DJ Tunez was not alone at the club on the night of the altercation.
According to Burna Boy, the disc jockey had come to the event with several men, but they allegedly ran away when they saw him.
He did not provide further details about who the men were or why they left.
The latest comments from Burna Boy have added another layer to the already tense situation between him and Wizkid’s camp.
The controversy began after reports emerged that DJ Tunez was attacked for allegedly refusing to play Burna Boy’s songs at the event while instead playing songs by Wizkid.
Although that claim has not been independently confirmed, it quickly became one of the most discussed topics on Nigerian social media.
Wizkid later reacted furiously to the incident in a post on X, where he insulted Burna Boy and mocked him over a viral towel dance video that surfaced shortly after the alleged attack.
The exchange has since intensified speculation that relations between the two Afrobeats stars may have broken down completely.
Fans of both artistes have also continued to clash online, with each side defending their favourite musician.
While Burna Boy’s supporters argued that he had a right to defend himself if he felt disrespected, critics insisted that assaulting a DJ was unacceptable under any circumstance.
Meanwhile, many people have called on both camps to resolve their differences peacefully.
Others have urged the Nigerian music industry to discourage violence and ensure that disagreements between artistes, DJs, and their teams do not escalate into physical confrontations.
As of the time of this report, DJ Tunez has not publicly responded to Burna Boy’s latest comments.
It also remains unclear whether the Nigerian DJ Association will reconsider its temporary ban on Burna Boy’s music after hearing his side of the story.
For now, the dispute continues to dominate conversations within the entertainment industry, with many waiting to see whether there will be further reactions from Wizkid, DJ Tunez or Burna Boy himself.
