Controversial relationship coach and social media personality, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has cried out following the arrest of her fiancé, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, also known as IVD.
IVD, a well-known celebrity auto dealer, was reportedly picked up by security agents on Friday while on his way to catch a flight to Qatar.
According to sources close to the matter, he was detained on the orders of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.
The arrest, which came as a surprise to many, has stirred fresh controversy online, especially because of IVD’s ongoing legal issues tied to the tragic death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
Reacting publicly on Saturday evening, Blessing CEO took to her Instagram page to voice her anger and disappointment.
In a lengthy post, she described the arrest as unjust and emotionally driven. She claimed it was politically motivated, referring to it as “a game of politics and dirty emotions.”
In her words, “This is a tribal war that has nothing to do with justice. What are you charging IVD for? There is no case file, no statement, nothing.”
She further accused unnamed forces of trying to use her fiancé as a pawn in a larger, unseen agenda.
Blessing insisted that IVD had already cooperated with the authorities in the past and should not be subjected to what she described as harassment.
New Daily Prime gathered that IVD’s arrest is not unconnected to the ongoing investigation into the death of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, who died in October 2022 after a domestic dispute at their home. Her death sparked national outrage, with many calling for a thorough probe into the incident.
Since then, IVD has faced several allegations, including claims of domestic abuse. While some believe he has a case to answer, others, such as the Blessing CEO, insist that he is being unfairly targeted.
This is not the first time Blessing has publicly defended IVD. In 2023, she made headlines when she began openly supporting him, insisting on his innocence. Her vocal support has continued to divide opinions, especially on social media, where reactions to her latest comments have been mixed.
Some of her followers expressed sympathy and support, while others accused her of attempting to shield a man facing serious allegations.
Despite the backlash, Blessing has remained firm in her stance. She called on the authorities to follow due process and avoid what she described as “emotional judgment.”
“This man has been dragged enough,” she wrote. “We have been attending court sessions, doing everything the law requires. Why detain him again without warning?”
Efforts to get an official statement from the Lagos State DPP’s office were unsuccessful as of the time of this report. However, legal experts say that detentions linked to ongoing investigations are not unusual, especially when new evidence arises or court proceedings require a defendant’s presence.
Meanwhile, the timing of the arrest has also raised eyebrows. Blessing and IVD were reportedly planning a destination wedding in Qatar, and his detention may now affect those plans.
As the situation continues to unfold, many Nigerians are watching closely to see how the justice system handles the case.
For now, IVD remains in custody, and his supporters, led by Blessing CEO, are calling for his immediate release and a fair hearing.
This arrest marks another twist in a case that has gripped public attention since 2022. Whether this new development will bring closure or add more tension remains to be seen.
