The ongoing 10th season of Big Brother Naija has taken a chaotic turn just five days in, with multiple altercations already drawing criticism from viewers and former housemates.
One of the most vocal critics is Pere Egbi, a former housemate, who has predicted that at least one contestant will be disqualified before the season ends.
Pere frustrated
Pere expressed his frustration on social media following a series of heated confrontations among the housemates. He reacted strongly to reports that one of the arguments started over food. “People must chop disqualification for this house. At least one. How will you fight over chicken???? Madness!!!!!!!” he wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to New Daily Prime, nearly a dozen housemates have already engaged in verbal and physical fights since the season began, raising concerns about the contestants’ ability to follow the show’s code of conduct.
The situation reached a boiling point on Thursday night during a dramatic altercation involving Imisi, one of the female housemates. Imisi was captured on camera threatening to stab fellow housemate Koyin with a fork. The footage quickly went viral and sparked outrage online.
Beyond the physical threat, Imisi also broke one of the house’s core rules by speaking Yoruba during the fight. According to Big Brother Naija guidelines, housemates are only allowed to speak English while in the house to ensure fair communication and understanding among all contestants and viewers.
Popular Nigerian comedian Steve Chuks also weighed in on the issue. He called for the show’s organisers to issue two strikes against Imisi for her conduct. Taking to X, he wrote, “Imisi suppose collect 2 strikes sha, the speaking of Yoruba and the threats that she will stab someone???? C’mon!!!”
Chuks’ comment reflects a growing concern among fans and viewers who believe that the show is losing control over discipline and decorum. Several social media users echoed his sentiments, calling on Big Brother Naija producers to act swiftly to curb the aggressive behaviour before it escalates further.
Many viewers are particularly worried about the physical safety of the housemates. While confrontations are not new to the show, threats involving physical harm have always been treated seriously. In past seasons, similar offences led to immediate disqualification.
This latest incident has once again sparked debate about how well the rules are enforced in the house. Some fans argue that the production team has been too lenient in recent seasons, allowing contestants to get away with rule-breaking behaviour that would have previously earned them automatic strikes or expulsion.
Others believe the fights may be part of a strategy by certain contestants to gain attention and trend on social media, which could help boost their popularity outside the house. However, critics insist that no amount of publicity is worth risking someone’s safety.
As the show progresses, many are now watching closely to see how Big Brother will respond. The organisers are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident involving Imisi, but insiders suggest that disciplinary measures are likely being considered.
This is not the first time a housemate has faced consequences for threatening behaviour. In previous seasons, similar outbursts have led to disqualification or at least multiple strikes. With tensions already running high and alliances forming, producers may be forced to take swift action to maintain order in the house.
For now, fans continue to voice their opinions online, calling for accountability and firmer enforcement of the rules. Whether or not Pere’s prediction comes true, one thing is certain, this season is already shaping up to be one of the most controversial in the history of Big Brother Naija.
