All is set for the release of Ayo Makun, known as AY, and his latest movie, The Waiter, an action-comedy film that promises to entertain and thrill audiences.
The movie features a talented ensemble cast, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Shaffy Bello, Regina Daniels, Williams Uchemba, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Toke Makinwa. The Waiter is set to make its debut in cinemas on December 20, 2024.
During a press luncheon held in Lagos, AY, the CEO of Corporate World Entertainment and the film’s executive producer, shared the inspiration behind The Waiter. “We decided to bring the Akpos brand back home after touring several countries.
The goal was to capture local stories, quality, and relatable content. We have a great story that’s fresh and exciting—one that will resonate with audiences.
This is going to be better than anything I’ve done before. If you want to produce a quality film, you must invest in the budget, and this is a high-budget production,” he explained.
Film director Toka McBaror, who collaborated with him on the project, expressed his excitement about the film.
“When I first read the script, I told him it couldn’t be done because of the ambitious imagination of the writer. But he was confident we could make it happen, and I’m glad we took the risk. This project is special to me. After 25 years in the industry, I’ve never felt this way about a film. The Waiter is unlike anything I’ve worked on before, and I believe audiences will feel the same.”

McBaror’s optimism stems from the unique storyline and the passion that both he and AY brought to the film. “I’ve never really liked my work, but The Waiter is different. I’m genuinely excited, and I think audiences will love it too,” he added.
With its star-studded cast, engaging storyline, and bold production values, The Waiter is set to become a major blockbuster.
Produced by Darlington Abuda, the film aims to blend action and comedy in a way that stands out from typical Nollywood releases.
The narrative follows unique characters navigating humorous yet action-packed situations, promising laughter and suspense in equal measure.
The success of The Waiter seems imminent, given the creative efforts of AY, Toka McBaror, and the talented cast.
Audiences are eager to experience the film’s blend of humour, thrilling moments, and relatable themes. With The Waiter, AY hopes to redefine Nollywood comedy, setting a new standard for quality filmmaking in Nigeria.
