Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has revealed that his father initially opposed his decision to pursue a career in music.
In a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the Sungba crooner recounted how his relationship with his father, Fatai Odunsi, became strained when he decided to follow his musical ambitions.
“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” Asake said, describing how he absconded to chase his dream despite his father’s disapproval.
The tension between father and son became public in March 2025 when Odunsi accused Asake of neglect and abandonment, drawing widespread media attention. Following the backlash, the singer and his father reconciled, with Asake assuming responsibility for his father’s welfare.
The revelation sheds light on the personal struggles behind Asake’s rise to fame, highlighting the sacrifices and determination that have shaped his career. It also underscores the importance of family reconciliation in the midst of personal and professional challenges.
