When asked, “Who are the three music artists you love listening to?”
Ekitike responded: “Gunna, Asake, and NBA YoungBoy are the best three artists I love to listen to.”
Ekitike’s mention of Asake highlights the growing global influence of Nigerian Afrobeats, which continues to captivate audiences and celebrities worldwide.
Asake, known for his energetic performances and unique fusion of Fuji, Amapiano, and Afrobeats sounds, has become one of Africa’s most successful music exports in recent years.
The Liverpool star’s taste in music reflects the cultural blend common among young footballers today, a mix of African rhythms and American hip-hop.
In the same interview, Ekitike also shared insights into his football inspirations, naming Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, and Mohamed Salah as his greatest football players of all time.
The 22-year-old praised the trio for their skill, mentality, and impact on world football, noting that each inspired him in different ways.
Ekitike’s admiration for Asake further cements the Nigerian artist’s status as one of the most internationally recognized figures in Afrobeats, joining the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, whose music has become a staple on global playlists and locker-room speakers across top football clubs.
