Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay has clarified that she does not see herself as a single mother despite her separation from her estranged husband, singer 2Face Idibia.
The actress explained that she prefers to describe herself as a single woman raising two children, making a clear distinction between the two terms. Taking to her Instagram page, Annie wrote: “I’m not a single mom. I’m a single woman raising two kids.”
Her statement comes months after 2Face publicly announced their separation. In late January 2025, the music icon revealed via Instagram that he was parting ways with Annie and had begun divorce proceedings.

According to him, the marriage had not been working for a long time, a disclosure that immediately stirred widespread reactions across social media and the entertainment industry.
Weeks after announcing the split, 2Face introduced Natasha Osawuru, an Edo State lawmaker, as his new partner, a move that further intensified public discourse around the former couple’s relationship.
In the immediate aftermath of the announcement, Annie removed “Idibia” from her social media handles, a symbolic gesture many interpreted as a sign of emotional closure. However, she later reinstated the surname, suggesting a more measured approach as events unfolded publicly.
Annie and 2Face tied the knot in 2012 in a high-profile ceremony that captured national attention. Over the course of their 13-year relationship, they faced significant public scrutiny, including persistent media attention and personal challenges that often played out in the public eye.
Despite these hurdles, the couple remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity unions.
The actress is now primarily responsible for the care and custody of their two daughters, Isabella and Olivia Idibia. In recent months, Annie’s social media presence has focused heavily on motherhood, healing, and personal growth, with posts highlighting moments spent with her children and reflections on self-care.
Her latest statement appears to underscore a desire to redefine her narrative. By insisting she is a “single woman raising two kids,” Annie may be pushing back against societal labels that often carry stigma or imply abandonment. The distinction suggests empowerment and autonomy rather than loss.
Observers say the language choice reflects a broader cultural conversation about identity and self-definition, especially for women navigating separation or divorce in the public eye. For Annie, it marks a new chapter, one rooted in independence, resilience, and a commitment to raising her daughters while embracing her individuality.
As she moves forward, the actress appears determined to shape her own story, on her own terms.
