Renowned Nigerian comedian Ali Baba has criticized men who feel insecure about their partners earning more than them.
In response to a story about a man asking his wife to quit her job due to his personal insecurities, Ali Baba questioned the rationale behind such behavior. He argued that a woman’s financial potential should not be stifled by her partner’s insecurities.
Ali Baba condemned men who tie their self-worth to their financial status, referring to them as “lazy bumcums” who promote “stupid narratives.”
To support his argument, he referenced successful couples like Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham.
In a post on his Instagram account, he wrote:
“All these lies you people are spreading will destroy you soon. Who are these women falling for such lies? If you earn more than your man, let him quit his own job. Nonsense! Who are these lazy bumcums promoting these ridiculous narratives?
“You are earning N1.5m a month, and your madam is earning N10m monthly. With such a job come various benefits, yet you tell her to resign.
“That means your self-confidence is based solely on your financial standing. Insecurities, my foot! So, should Stedman tell Oprah to resign? Who is raising these men whose self-esteem is defined by their financial status?
“No wonder, when a woman looks wealthy and exudes success, these kinds of men become weaklings instead of being motivated to improve their own financial standing. Shiooooor.”
