Actor Alesh Sanni has expressed disappointment over the wave of emotional tributes that flooded social media following the death of his colleague, actress and producer Allwell Ademola, questioning the sincerity behind many of the condolences.
Allwell Ademola reportedly passed away on Saturday, December 27, at the age of 49.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Sanni criticised what he described as selective support within the entertainment industry.

He noted that several individuals who are now publicly mourning the late actress failed to support or promote her work while she was alive.
According to him, the sudden surge of posts celebrating Ademola after her death highlights a troubling culture of performative sympathy, rather than genuine appreciation for creatives during their lifetime.
Sanni stressed that the late actress was not only a performer but also a producer who deserved consistent recognition and encouragement when it truly mattered.
“What I don’t understand is why people are so quick to post bad news,” he said. “This is disturbing and disheartening. Someone will celebrate their birthday and you people won’t post them like this. She was a producer.”
He further lamented that many of those sharing tributes never reposted or supported Ademola’s films, questioning the motivation behind the sudden attention.
“You people wouldn’t repost any of her movies, so why are you posting now? Someone hasn’t been gone for up to 30 minutes and the news is already all over your pages. Why?” he asked.
Sanni’s remarks have sparked conversations online about support, authenticity, and how the Nigerian film industry values its talents while they are still alive.
