Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has opened up about her personal life, revealing her plans to have more children with her ex-husband despite their separation.
Toriola, who got married in 2018 and welcomed her son Zion in 2019, confirmed her split from her partner in early 2023 via a lengthy Instagram post. However, in a recent interview on TVC, she shed more light on where things stand now and her future intentions.
The actress shared that she has chosen to stay away from relationships and marriage for the time being, focusing instead on parenting and expanding her family.
“For now, I don’t want to go into marriage. I don’t want to go into a relationship because I have plans to have more kids with my ex-husband,” she said.
She noted that their co-parenting arrangement has remained amicable, and they continue to maintain mutual respect.
“There’s a collaboration. Sometimes when we’re together I get messages like you may not be a good wife to me but you’re a good mother. I still hold that dear,” she added. “I have one child now but I want more. If marriage comes later, fine.”
Toriola admitted she’s not certain about her ex-husband’s current relationship status but said they are both focused on raising their child.
“I don’t know if he is married at the moment. But maybe he is seeing somebody else. We co-parent well so I just feel for now I want more kids,” she said. “Then after that we can now have time to start noticing and trusting somebody else because age don dey go.”
Recall that the actress had shared the struggles she faced before achieving success with her blockbuster film Queen Lateefah.
The movie became one of Nigeria’s highest-grossing films of 2024, earning an impressive ₦350 million at the box office.
In a recent interview, Toriola revealed that bringing Queen Lateefah to life was not easy. She faced multiple setbacks, including disappointments and unexpected delays. Despite these challenges, she remained determined to create a film that would leave a lasting impact.
“I would have shot Queen Lateefah four years ago, but it didn’t happen,” she admitted. “I kept working on the story, rewriting it over and over. I faced disappointments, but I learned that preparation is key. When you finally step out, you must do it well.”
