Renowned Nollywood actress, Bukky Wright, has opened up about her hopes for a second chance at love.
The 58-year-old screen star shared her thoughts during an interview with BBC Yoruba, revealing her desire to remarry, though she made it clear that she is not desperate.
The Abeokuta-born, who has built a legacy in the Nigerian film industry for over two decades, said she remains open to finding a life partner again, but will only do so if it aligns with God’s will.
“On the issue of marriage, I wish to be married again if God destined it, but it’s not a must,” she stated firmly.
Bukky Wright not desperate for marriage
In the interview, the actress emphasised that while she desires companionship, her happiness does not depend solely on being married. She explained that her stance is based on faith and personal contentment.
She recalled offering a heartfelt prayer during her recent visit to Al Kaaba, the Islamic holy site in Mecca. There, she asked God to guide her path and determine whether marriage is part of her destiny.
“When I went to Al Kaaba, I prayed to God about it, and I know He is a God that answers prayers,” she said confidently.
Her words reflect a woman who, despite societal pressure and age-related expectations, chooses to trust in divine timing rather than rush into marriage.
A career rooted in passion
Bukky Wright became a household name in 1999 after her memorable performance in the award-winning Yoruba political drama Saworoide, directed by Tunde Kelani. The film not only elevated her career but also placed her among the respected faces of Yoruba cinema.
Since then, she has starred in numerous Nollywood films, showcasing her talent across both English and Yoruba productions. Beyond acting, she has also worked as a producer and businesswoman.
Her enduring presence on screen and her graceful ageing have earned her the admiration of fans, especially as she continues to maintain a private yet dignified life off-screen.
Wright is a proud mother of two sons. Despite her fame, she has always shielded her children from the spotlight, preferring to raise them away from public attention. Her journey through motherhood and stardom has not been without challenges, but she has managed to strike a balance between career and family.
Over the years, she has rarely spoken publicly about her personal life, especially her romantic relationships. This recent interview marks a rare moment where she reflects on her desires without fear of public scrutiny.
