The family of Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia filed a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), accusing the singer’s wife, Natasha Osawaru, of several offences, including financial misappropriation, assault, bigamy, and alleged threats.
The petition, dated November 12 and now circulating widely online, urged the police to investigate incidents the family claimed had caused 2Baba financial loss, emotional strain, and reputational damage.

The document stated that the family based its report on accounts received from the singer and other witnesses.
According to the petition, the Idibia family alleged that 2Baba suffered physical assault in Abuja and in the United Kingdom.
They also alleged that Natasha accessed and transferred funds from the singer’s bank accounts without his consent.
The family further claimed that she withheld his international passport and other key documents, which prevented him from meeting business obligations and reportedly exposed him to public embarrassment and potential financial setbacks.
The petition also raised concerns about 2Baba’s emotional well-being, warning that the ongoing tension could affect his stability.
The family asked the police to look into what they described as a pattern of worrying behaviour, while calling for protection and a thorough review of the claims.
Another major allegation in the petition involved a possible violation of marriage laws. The Idibia family claimed that 2Baba had not completed divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia, before Natasha presented herself publicly as his new wife.
They described this as a potential case of bigamy and urged investigators to verify the circumstances.
“Substance abuse by Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru allegedly resulted in violent behavior, causing Mr Innocent Ujah Idibia emotional distress and financial loss.
More importantly, his personal safety and mental well-being appear to be at risk,” part of the petition read.
The document also called for a proper investigation into alleged “fraudulent misrepresentation.”
The petition surfaced only days after two of 2Baba’s former managers, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, spoke during an Instagram Live session with broadcaster Daddy Freeze.
They accused Natasha of trying to gain complete control of 2Baba’s finances and career decisions.
Their claims sparked heated debate online and added to the public attention surrounding the situation.
During the Instagram livestream, 2Baba unexpectedly joined the session and attempted to stop his former handlers from discussing his personal life.
The broadcast ended abruptly moments later after Natasha appeared on screen and the couple became engaged in a tense confrontation.
The drama caused further concern when the singer’s younger brother, Hyacinth Idibia, made a public plea on his Instagram Story, urging his elder brother to accept help from his family.
Hyacinth wrote, “Allow us to save you,” a message that quickly spread across social media and intensified public speculation. The situation continued to escalate as the Edo State House of Assembly stepped in.
Natasha Osawaru, who represents the Egor constituency, received a summons from the Assembly to appear before a committee over her conduct, which had gone viral during the recent episodes.
As the controversy deepened, public discussions grew louder, with many calling for calm and urging all parties involved to allow the authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.
Meanwhile, fans of the award-winning singer expressed concern for his well-being and urged the family to prioritise peace while the case proceeds.
