2Baba took a nostalgic journey through his early days as a struggling artist, highlighting the mentors and industry figures who helped shape his career.
He paid special tribute to Nelson Brown, the music producer who discovered and nurtured Plantashun Boiz, the trio that propelled him into the spotlight alongside Faze and Blackface.
“You were the first to see light in the dream of three young men when no one else believed,” he wrote. “You gave us a voice when we barely had a microphone, a space when all we had was a dream.”
The music legend also extended his appreciation to Baba Keke (Kenny Ogungbe), D1 (Dayo Adeneye), Eddie Lawani, and DJ Jimmy Jatt, among others, for their support and contributions to his rise.
He credited them for opening doors that allowed him to reach his audience and sustain his career through different phases of the Nigerian music evolution.

His artistry has transcended generations, influencing countless Nigerian and African artists who followed in his footsteps.
In his letter, 2Baba also acknowledged his fans, family, and collaborators, noting that their loyalty has been the foundation of his success. “Every song, every stage, every award, every failure, and every comeback was because of you all,” he expressed.
The singer concluded the letter with a message of hope and continuity, vowing to keep making music that uplifts and unites. “The journey continues. 25 years down, forever to go. Thank you for walking this road with me,” he wrote.
2Baba’s open letter stands not only as a reflection of his personal journey but also as a testament to the evolution of Nigerian music itself, from humble beginnings to a globally recognized force.
