Renowned Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus, took to social media on Tuesday to pay a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Jaiye Aboderin, who passed away 20 years ago.

In a poignant post, Damasus expressed her gratitude to God for the strength to navigate the difficult times following her husband’s demise.

She also acknowledged the enduring presence of Aboderin in their children’s lives, stating that he is “forever in our hearts.”

The emotional tribute sparked an outpouring of condolences and support from fans, friends, and colleagues, who praised Damasus’ resilience and devotion to her late husband.

Aboderin’s passing on December 3, 2004, sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment industry, and his memory continues to be celebrated by those who knew him.

As Damasus and her family mark this significant milestone, they are reminded of the profound impact Aboderin had on their lives, and his legacy continues to inspire and uplift those who loved him.

Damasus married her first husband, Jaiye Aboderin, in 1999 when she was 21. The couple had two daughters before Jaiye died suddenly in 2004.

Damasus remarried in 2007, this time to Emeka Nzeribe. The marriage lasted for seven months before they mutually agreed to divorce.

In 2011, she became associated with multiple award winning Nollywood producer & director, Daniel Ademinokan; this eventually led to a separation in 2020 and a subsequent divorce.

Their relationship sparked a lot of controversy because both parties never publicly admitted to be dating, engaged or even married until 2014.

She stated that 20 years later, his (Jaiye’s) children are now old enough to honour the legacy of their father, and so they came back to where he was buried.

She stated, “Exactly 20 years ago today, my husband Jaiye Aboderin passed away. 20 years later, with his children grown enough to honour his legacy in the same place, we went back there.

“It was not easy to get through this, but I am grateful to God for strength. Special thanks to my family and friends who joined us and those who couldn’t make it but prayed and called.

“It is well with us. Jaiye is forever in our hearts. May his soul continue to rest in peace.”
