Twin brothers, Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew have made history at the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI) as they both graduated with first-class degrees and the same CGPA of 3.94/4.00 from the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
In this rare academic feat, the brothers not only achieved academic excellence but also stood out as the best graduating students in both their department and faculty for the 2023/2024 session, further cementing their names in the record books of the university.
One of this exceptional duo, Matthias announced the achievement in a post on X on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI) formally celebrated the brothers in a congratulatory message that highlighted their academic excellence and leadership contributions.
Matthias served as Honorable Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council (UISU-SRC, 11th Assembly), while Matthew was the President of SEEEES-UI for the 2023/2024 session.

The brothers maintained an outstanding academic record throughout their studies, showing consistent performance from their 100 to 500 levels. Despite slight fluctuations, they both graduated with the same CGPA.
A viral photo from their graduation ceremony captured a deeply emotional moment where their proud mother held their hands and prayed passionately with them, celebrating their success with tears of joy and gratitude.
