The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has praised the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for its vital role in ensuring a smooth and credible online registration process for prospective corps members.
Speaking at the 2025 National Identity Day event in Abuja, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, stated that a partnership with NIMC, which began in 2024, has been instrumental in creating a fraud-free mobilization process.

He said the collaboration involved integrating the National Identification Number (NIN) into the NYSC registration to prevent multiple enrollments and ensure each prospective corps member is unique and verifiable.
According to Nafiu, the use of NIN has fortified public confidence in the mobilization process, guaranteeing that only qualified Nigerian graduates are called to service in line with the NYSC Act.
“We have been able to curtail fraudulent enrolment and unqualified graduates from forcing their way into national service,” he said, adding that the process is now “faster, cleaner, and more reliable.”
Nafiu called for a stronger synergy between government agencies and pledged that the NYSC would continue to advocate for policies that strengthen Nigeria’s identity system.
He emphasised that “identity is not merely a record; it is empowerment.”
