The 2009 Agreement that has become the bone of contention between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has been repudiated by the FG.
Education Minister, Tunji Alausa, on Thursday said what existed between the two parties were mere proposals.
The government insisted that the purported agreements, both 2009 and 2011,which ASUU have been making reference to, were never signed but just proposals.

Alausa, who declared this while fielding questions from newsmen in Abuja, however, said the present federal administration, headed by President Bola Tinubu, was making arrangements to resolve its problems with the nation’s universities’ lecturers’ body.
Alausa explained the documents which ASUU has been referring to as signed agreements, were just mere proposals that were never signed as agreements.
The minister also said contrary to media reports, he did not schedule any meeting with ASUU and the Minister of Labour and Employment.
