The 2025 edition is being organised by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) in partnership with the New Era Foundation.
The contest will hold at the Eko FM Multi-Purpose Hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
The junior category, primary school pupils, will hold on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, while the senior category, secondary school students, will hold on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
Alli-Balogun described the Spelling Bee as one of the state’s most highly anticipated academic events, providing a platform for pupils and students to showcase their intellectual abilities and confidence.
Beyond attractive cash prizes, the overall winner of the senior category will be crowned the Lagos State Spelling Bee Champion and will assume the distinguished role of one-day governor, offering them firsthand exposure to leadership and governance.
To ensure the event’s smooth execution and maintain its integrity, the commissioner noted that a planning committee was established in October and has since held strategic meetings with technical partners, including a reputable quiz master.
