The Federal Government (FG) has inaugurated a nationwide Tax Reform Challenge aimed at encouraging creativity and robust discussion among Nigerian students regarding the country’s new tax laws.
Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, announced the initiative yesterday via his official X account.
The competition is designed to raise awareness, promote tax education, and foster youth-led constructive dialogue on fiscal policy across the nation.

This challenge is a strategic move by the committee to enhance public understanding of the new tax policies and provide young Nigerians with a direct platform to contribute innovative concepts that can influence national fiscal discussions.
The competition is open to two groups: undergraduates enrolled in all Nigerian tertiary institutions and graduates currently participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme or awaiting mobilization.
To participate, students must study the new tax legislation and submit original content—an article, video, podcast, radio segment, or social media post, created and published between July 1 and December 31, 2025.
Oyedele stressed that the content must be educative, engaging, and fact-based, and confirmed that entries offering critical perspectives on the reform are welcome.
Submissions will be evaluated based on their creativity, factual accuracy, and effectiveness in informing or engaging the public on tax-related matters.
The total prize fund for the challenge stood at ₦10 million, distributed as follows: the first prize winner received ₦5 million, the second prize winner received ₦3 million, and the third prize winner received ₦2 million.
Beyond the monetary awards, Oyedele revealed that the top 10 finalists from each of the six geopolitical zones will receive consolation prizes, including gadgets, internship or job placement opportunities, and the title of Tax Reform Youth Ambassador.
