The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has reaffirmed the President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to improving the standard of education in Nigeria, calling it the “cornerstone” of the government.
Akume said this while receiving a delegation from the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim & Seraphim (ESOCS), led by its Prelate, His Most Eminence Baba Aladura David Bob-Manuel.
The SGF highlighted Tinubu’s past actions, including returning missionary schools to their original owners during his time as governor of Lagos State, a move he said was made despite significant opposition.

He also pointed to establishing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as proof of the administration’s commitment to ensuring every Nigerian has access to higher education through interest-free loans.
Akume acknowledged the contributions of religious bodies in providing education, healthcare, and promoting peace.
He stated that the government is ready to partner with them to foster peaceful coexistence and national development.
Speaking, Prelate Baba Aladura David Bob-Manuel expressed the ESOCS’s full support for Tinubu and assured the government of their willingness to collaborate on the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He also congratulated the President on his election and Akume on his appointment.

The visit ended with the presentation of centenary souvenirs to the SGF, commemorating the ESOCS’s 100 years of ministry.
The Prelate also offered prayers for Tinubu, Akume, and the nation, seeking peace, unity, and sustainable development.
