The Federal Government (FG) on Tuesday pegged the admission age into tertiary institutions in the country at 16.
The decision was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, during a Policy Meeting called by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, held in Abuja on this year’s admission to higher institutions.
Alausa added that the admission age is not negotiable and urged all institutions to comply.

This is just as the government warned against illegal admissions, insisting that any admission conducted outside of the Central Admission Processing System, CAPS, would be illegal and perpetrators would be prosecuted.
The minister warned that heads of institutions found engaged in admission fraud would face prosecution.
