The Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, has stressed that embracing the core principles of patriotism, education, and public service is essential for achieving economic empowerment, inclusive growth, and equal opportunities for all citizens.
Uzoka-Anite made the declaration during a courtesy visit to her office by the Committee for the 6th Nnamdi Azikiwe Annual Award Memorial Lecture, led by its Chairman and former governor of Niger State, Mu’azu Aliyu.
The minister emphasised that the ideals of the late nationalist, Nnamdi Azikiwe, remain timeless.

She charged contemporary leaders and all Nigerians to embody these virtues, stating, “It is our duty, as leaders of today, to translate those ideals into economic empowerment, inclusive growth, and opportunities for all Nigerians.”
She reiterated the Federal Ministry of Finance’s commitment, under the Renewed Hope Agenda, to pursuing “sound fiscal management, inclusive economic policies, and sustainable national prosperity.”
She noted that recognitions such as the one being planned strengthen her resolve to serve diligently.
Uzoka-Anite thanked President Bola Tinubu, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Zenith Bank Chairman Jim Ovia, and all Nigerians for the opportunity to contribute to the nation’s building.
She also commended the organising committee for its ongoing work to honour national icons and promote dialogue on governance and leadership.
Earlier in the discussion, Aliyu underscored the importance of national unity as the bedrock of Nigeria’s progress, calling for a unified purpose and vision to achieve sustainable development.
Aliyu explained that the Nnamdi Azikiwe Award is reserved for individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced their communities, the nation, and humanity.
He announced that the nomination of Doris Uzoka-Anite was unanimous and well-deserved, citing her remarkable track record in the financial sector, integrity, and dedication to the nation’s growth and stability.

The former governor also noted that the visit served as a prelude to the main Award Ceremony and Memorial Lecture scheduled for November 2025.
