He described the fair as a “strong demonstration” of the government’s resolve to build an inclusive economy where no one is left behind.
The theme of the fair, “Your Career, Your Way: Explore Endless Possibilities,” aligns with the government’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda, which prioritises youth empowerment through initiatives like the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), the Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP), and the Ready-Set-Work program.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, highlighted the state’s efforts in creating jobs, noting that over 200,000 jobs have been generated in the past four years through vocational training centres and the newly commissioned Leather Hub in Mushin.
He added that billions of naira have been disbursed to small businesses and entrepreneurs through the LSETF.
In his keynote address, former Managing Director of Wemabod Estates, Oluyemi Ejidiran, emphasised the need to bridge the skills gap in the job market, urging youths to embrace lifelong learning.
He told job seekers, “You may be jobless today, but you are not useless. Opportunity favours the prepared.”
The event attracted companies from various sectors, including ICT, finance, healthcare, and manufacturing. It also featured a panel discussion and served as a platform to connect young talent with potential employers.
