The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has asserted that the future growth, commercial viability, and long-term endurance of Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector are intrinsically linked to the formation of strategic partnerships.
The company’s position was communicated by the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Bayo Ojulari, in an address delivered at the 2025 Inaugural Annual Downstream Petroleum Week yesterday.
Ojulari, whose remarks were presented by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, noted that Nigeria’s downstream environment is characterised by “transition, opportunity, and strategic reform,” making collaboration essential for a stable energy future.

The GCEO highlighted that Africa’s energy requirements, with Nigeria as a key player, are expected to surge in the coming years.
This projection necessitates “coordinated efforts and collective responsibility” to capture emerging opportunities and ensure sustainable, inclusive growth across the sector.
On its domestic commitment, Ojulari reaffirmed its dedication to guaranteeing a consistent supply of fuel, competitive pricing, and maintaining high-quality standards across its entire national retail network.
Ojulari stressed that creating a sustainable economy “is hinged on supply partnership, infrastructure co-investments, security partnerships, host community cooperation and operational alliances.”
He urged every stakeholder to participate in activities that will create a promising and enduring future for the nation.
He also commended the National Assembly, particularly the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), for organising the forum.
Ojulari assured attendees that NNPC Ltd., operating as a commercial entity, remains dedicated to fostering stakeholder engagement and advancing collaborative business models for the benefit of the entire sector.
