The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has condemned the recent 50% tariff hike announced by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has revealed a significant drop in the mandatory remittance of electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) and the Market Operator (MO) for the first nine months of 2024. The data shows a decline of N156bn in remittances. In the first quarter of 2024, the DisCos were expected to remit N114.12bn, but they managed to pay N110.62bn, which is 96.93% of the required amount.
