A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for seriously assaulting two teenage girls and an adult woman sexually in Orkney. The assailant, Gordon Docherty abused the girls between 2006 and 2008. One of the teenage victims was 13 years old when she was first assaulted. He raped the woman in her home in August 2020, just days after she had given birth. Her newborn baby was nearby during the attack. Labour MPs have urged the UK prime minister to introduce a ban on social media access for under-16s. The 61 MPs in an open letter to Keir Starmer said past administrations had not done much to “protect young people from unregulated, addictive social media platforms”. A male teenager, 17, charged with inflicting bodily harm on his victim — a boy of the same age — has been detained at the Londonderry Magistrates’ court. Humberside Police have found a body during the search for a missing 15-year-old girl who was swept into the sea off the East Yorkshire coast. Grace Keeling drowned in the water at Withernsea on 2 January. The mother, Sarah Keeling, 45, and a passerby, Mark Ratcliffe, died in an attempt to save her.
