A male teenager, 17, charged with inflicting bodily harm on his victim — a boy of the same age — has been detained at the Londonderry Magistrates’ court. The court heard that the victim is in a critical condition in intensive care following an altercation on Butcher Street in the early hours of Sunday. The court heard that CCTV footage revealed the defendant being pulled away from the scene before returning and striking another youth. Plans to scrap police grants that provide funding to forces if required officer numbers are reached are underway by the UK Home Office. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will write to police chiefs in England and Wales informing them the Officer Maintenance Grant is being scrapped and replaced with protected funding for neighbourhood policing. Humberside Police have found a body during the search for a missing 15-year-old girl who was swept into the sea off the East Yorkshire coast. Grace Keeling drowned in the water at Withernsea on 2 January. The mother, Sarah Keeling, 45, and a passerby, Mark Ratcliffe, died in an attempt to save her. The police said emergency services made efforts to recover the body, which was located among rocks on the beach at Withernsea at about 08:30 GMT on Thursday, but were unable to do so because of tidal conditions and other factors. An ex soldier has been jailed for three and a half years over a petrol bomb attack on a police station, endangering the life of a police officer. The defendant Jamie Taylor, 34, from Bo’ness confessed throwing three molotov cocktails (petrol bombs) at vans owned by police outside of the Livingston police station on May 30, 2025. A man has been jailed for over four years for infecting a woman with HIV. Luke Davis, 31, did not maintain his treatment for his ailment or disclose his HIV status to the woman. Davis, residing on George Street, Kidderminster, received his sentence on Monday at Hereford Crown Court following his October conviction for inflicting grievous bodily harm. According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Davis’s victim presented evidence during the trial revealing she had sexual intercourse only with Davis during the time she contracted HIV.
