The Federal Government has renamed the University of Abuja after former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon. Henceforth, the institution will be known as Yakubu Gowon University. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris announced the name change shortly after the last Federal Executive Council meeting for the year 2024, chaired by President Bola Tinubu. Notorious bandit leader and arms dealer, Bako Wurgi, alias Baka NaGarba, has been arrested by troops of the 1 Brigade of the Nigerian army. Military sources said Wurgi is suspected to be behind the murder of Isa Bawa, the emir of Gobir in Sokoto State. The Police Command in Imo State has announced that it has killed four suspected kidnappers in Ezioha, Eziama community in Mbaitoli LGA of the state.
