The Rivers State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to withdraw services of its members over the court order stopping disbursement of financial allocations to the state. A federal high court in Abuja, on Wednesday, restrained the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from further disbursing financial allocations to the Rivers State government. Although VDM’s offence was not known at the time of filing this report, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, said he was detained after honouring a police invitation. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed the successful identification of the wreckage of a Sikorsky SK76 helicopter that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near Bonny Finima on October 24, 2024. Not less than three people were killed on Thursday evening in Umuahia, Abia State, by heavily armed men riding motorcycles. The assailants, numbering around three, shot their victims in separate incidents around the city.
