A 20-year-old undergraduate, Ganiyu Alabi, was on Wednesday sentenced to one year and two months imprisonment for engaging in an online love scam. Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Special Offences Court sentenced him, following his plea bargain agreement to the charge of possession of fraudulent documents. The defendant will serve his jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, in Lagos. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lambasted the renowned lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju over his criticism of some demolitions in the nation’s capital. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division has disqualified Olusola Ebiseni as the Labour Party candidate for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 16 November 2024. In response to a recent attempt by a 200-level student to commit suicide following academic struggles, the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has said the school is considering a waiver for extra-year students struggling with their studies. The Director Naval Information, Commodore A Adams-Aliu in a statement on Wednesday, said the brief handover ceremony was done at the Caverton Helicopters Limited (CHL) hangar facilities in Ikeja Lagos. According to the statement, the AW 109 Helicopter has a purpose-built VIP configuration with a full leather and noise attenuation system.
