The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday wrote to the National Assembly, seeking the approval of a fresh $2.2 billion loan as a new external borrowing plan in the 2024 Appropriation Act. The President’s request was contained in a letter read by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary on Tuesday. The loan, If approved, will be used to finance part of the budget deficit of N9.7 trillion for the 2024 budget. Russia says Ukraine has fired US-supplied long-range missiles into the country, a day after Washington gave its permission for such attacks. Ukraine used the Army Tactical Missile System (Atacms) in a strike on Russia’s Bryansk region this morning (Tuesday), the ministry of defence in Moscow said. Five missiles were shot down and one damaged, with its fragments causing a fire at a military facility in the region, it said. Saudi Arabia has executed more than 100 foreigners this year, according to an AFP tally. The latest execut!on, on Saturday November 16, in the southwestern region of Najran, was of a Yemeni national convicted of smuggling drugs into the Gulf kingdom, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.
