A confrontation between a soldier and police officers in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Wednesday has left one person dead and three others injured. According to reports, the incident occurred in Ugwuachara village, Ebonyi Local Government Area, when the policemen attempted to search a soldier on a motorcycle during a stop-and-search operation. A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, ordered an unemployed man, Vincent Danladi, to sweep the court premises for three weeks for stealing one carton of floor tiles and other items worth N130,000. Terrorists that plague northern Nigeria are arming themselves with weapons that originated in Libya, according to Nigerian defence officials. Weapons traffickers in Nigeria are benefiting from instability across the Sahel, particularly in Niger, which has become a key transit point for weapons taken from Libyan stockpiles.
