Freshly installed All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, declared his intention to implement decisive policies and actively recruit more governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition factions into the ruling party.
Yilwatda said this during an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ program, just hours after his confirmation as the APC’s new leader in Abuja.
“My immediate priority is that the party is united,” Yilwatda affirmed, indicating a commitment to internal cohesion.
He also pledged to coordinate the APC’s efforts to fully implement its manifesto.

The new APC chairman outlined his strategy to expand the party’s influence, stating he would ‘invest in legwork’ to persuade more governors from rival parties to join the APC fold.
Yilwatda brings a diverse background to his new role.
A registered engineer with COREN and a community developer, he previously served as a lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State.
The Plateau State native also has experience as a former Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He was appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024, a position he held until his emergence as the APC National Chairman on Thursday.
