The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked opposition parties to stop distracting the government and instead start preparing for the 2031 general elections.
This was made known in a statement released on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Lagos by the party’s spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo.
The party stated that the results of recent off-season elections show that Nigerians still trust the leadership and vision of the APC.
Oladejo noted that the opposition appears disorganised and lacks the seriousness needed to challenge the ruling party in the next few years.
He described the current move by opposition parties to form last-minute alliances just before party primaries as “laughable”.
The party claimed that the opposition is “desperately shopping for alliances and coalitions” just days before primaries begin.
The Lagos APC also asked if the opposition is trying to make a serious election process into a game of chance driven by fantasies of winning.
The party then advised opposition groups to stop wasting energy on “unproductive rhetoric” regarding settled mandates, suggesting they use the coming years to rebuild their internal structures.
The statement read:
“Rather than dissipating energy contesting settled mandates through distractions and unproductive rhetoric, we strongly advise opposition elements to channel their focus toward rebuilding, re-strategizing, and preparing meaningfully for the 2031 elections.
The road to 2031 offers ample time for reflection, internal reforms, and the development of credible alternatives that can genuinely resonate with the electorate.”
The Lagos APC insisted that it remains focused on governance and improvement of citizens’ lives.
“The APC remains fully committed to delivering on its promises-strengthening infrastructure, improving economic opportunities, enhancing security, and ensuring the overall well-being of our citizens. Our priority remains governance, not political theatrics.”
The party urged the opposition to accept the current political reality and contribute to the progress of the state.
The APC stated that governance is a “serious responsibility, not a perpetual campaign”, emphasising that it is focused on building a greater state for everyone.
