The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a landslide victory in the Rivers State Local Government Elections held on Saturday, winning 20 of the 23 chairmanship seats contested.
In a statement issued on yesterday the party expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their overwhelming support, attributing the outcome to public confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka described the victory as proof of the party’s commitment to transformative governance.
“This victory is a clear indication of the strong confidence the people have in the APC-led administration,” Morka said.
He commended party leaders, members and supporters for their dedication, and praised the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and security agencies for conducting what he called a peaceful, transparent and hitch-free election.
Morka urged the newly elected local government chairmen to prioritise meaningful governance for the benefit of all residents.
The APC’s dominant performance highlights its growing influence in Rivers State, a region long considered a battleground for opposition parties.
The statement also dismissed allegations of electoral malpractice raised by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who questioned the credibility of the polls.
The APC branded Atiku’s claims as “incendiary and highly irresponsible,” accusing him of seeking to deflect attention from what it called the poor performance of his African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Morka described the remarks as a “smokescreen” aimed at inciting tension and instability, urging Rivers residents to reject what he called the “unwise counsel of a forlorn serial presidential contender.”

Reiterating its commitment to building a stronger and more united Rivers State, the APC said the victory represented a clear mandate to pursue policies aligned with Tinubu’s development vision.
With the newly elected officials set to assume office, attention will now turn to their ability to deliver on the party’s promises of transformative governance.
