The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, is set to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, January 2, 2026, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to the Ward Chairman of the PDP, Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area, Governor Mutfwang officially announced his withdrawal from the party with immediate effect.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the Governor stated. He added, “Given the realities of the moment, and guided by my unwavering commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and effective service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform to participate in the political process.”

Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing a platform to pursue his political aspirations and thanked party members and supporters for their loyalty and support over the years.
According to the Governor, his decision to join the APC is a strategic move aimed at advancing the interests of the people of Plateau State. He noted that the step would better align the state’s development objectives with the policies and programmes of the Federal Government, thereby accelerating growth and delivering greater dividends of democracy to the populace.
The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to providing purposeful leadership, promoting inclusive governance, and championing unity across Plateau State. He emphasised that breaking barriers of division remains central to achieving collective growth and sustainable development.
The formal registration and presentation of the APC membership card to Governor Mutfwang will take place at Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026. Following the ceremony, the Governor will proceed to the Plateau State Secretariat of the APC at Kalwa House, Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos, where he will formally interface with party leaders and members.
