The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to protect Nigerians following recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri.
The party stated that the bombings, which led to the death of 23 people, leaving others injured, prove that the current government cannot handle the country’s security problems.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the PDP said the attacks show how weak Nigeria’s security has become.
The party maintained that these violent acts have increased since President Bola Tinubu took office.
According to the PDP, the Maiduguri bombings are clear evidence that the APC-led government is unable to stop the growing violence across the nation.
The PDP, for example, pointed out that 11 years ago, insecurity was mostly found in the North-East. But it has now spread to many regions.
The party noted, “Sadly, 11 years later, insecurity has not only increased significantly . . . it has spread almost uncontrollably to many other parts of the country.”
The party expressed concern that the situation is now moving out of control and affecting the daily lives of many citizens.
The statement by the party suggested that the APC is prioritising its own political interests over the safety and lives of the Nigerian people.
The PDP urged the Federal Government to work with community leaders and local stakeholders to find a real solution.
