Indigenes of the Oke-Ogun zone in Oyo State have called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone its 2027 governorship ticket to their area, invoking principles of fairness, equity, and inclusiveness.
The appeal came from Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa, a socio-cultural organisation advocating for Oke-Ogun interests, amid their participation in the ongoing APC Renewed Hope Unity Rally.
In a statement released on yesterday, jointly signed by National Chairman Mr Dauda Olaifa and Secretary Pastor Favour Adewoyin, the group urged APC leaders in Oyo State to seriously consider selecting their next governorship candidate from Oke-Ogun.

The organisation commended the APC for its renewed vigour and strategic focus, highlighting early efforts to bolster party structures ahead of the 2027 elections. It described the unity rally as evidence of the party’s readiness and direction.
However, the group emphasised that its involvement in the rally was not partisan, insisting it remains a non-political entity.
Participation in events in Kisi, Saki, and Iseyin was intended to spotlight the zone’s longstanding demand for the governorship in 2027, the statement noted.
“As indigenes of Oke-Ogun, we believe the time has come to clearly and confidently state our position: 2027 should mark Oke-Ogun’s turn to produce the governor of Oyo State,” it declared.

The group clarified its outreach spans multiple parties, including APC, PDP, ADC, Accord, and Labour Party, underscoring its non-partisan stance dedicated to equitable power rotation.
While reaffirming support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, it appealed to APC leadership to uphold justice, equity, inclusiveness, and federal character principles by zoning the ticket to Oke-Ogun.
It highlighted capable aspirants from the zone, such as former deputy governors and a former minister, ready to lead effectively.
“Oke-Ogun is united and committed to delivering full electoral support. Rotational leadership has succeeded elsewhere; Oyo should embrace it,” the group added.
