The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has urged Nigerians to hold Governor Seyi Makinde responsible for the deepening crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rather than attributing the opposition party’s troubles to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and made available to the public, the APC’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, insisted that the PDP’s misfortunes stem from internal failures of leadership, particularly under Governor Makinde’s influence.

“Rather than look inward for solutions, supposed elders and leaders within the PDP left everything to chance and paved the way for the likes of Gov. Makinde to take over the affairs of their party,” Sadare said.
He accused the Oyo State governor of lacking the capacity, experience, and requisite traits to steer a national political party, describing Makinde as “the final nemesis which consumed the PDP”.
The APC spokesman highlighted the PDP’s dwindling electoral fortunes, noting that Makinde is now the sole PDP governor in the whole of Southern Nigeria, with only three or four remaining in the North.
“Because he lacked capacity, experience and other traits required to lead a national party, Gov. Makinde emerged the final nemesis which consumed the PDP,” the statement read.

Sadare further argued that the mass exodus of PDP governors to other platforms raises serious questions about Makinde’s vision for the party, adding that “virtually all his governor colleagues” have abandoned the PDP under his watch.
The Oyo APC called on Nigerians to allow President Tinubu to concentrate on governance without being distracted by blame for the opposition’s self-inflicted wounds.
“As a matter of fact, Gov. Makinde cannot deliver the PDP from its current comatose condition,” Sadare concluded.
