A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has described the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s governorship candidate for the August 8, 2026 election as a strong indication of victory for the party.
Oyintiloye made this assertion on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. He said Oyebamiji’s emergence through a consensus arrangement reflected the maturity, unity and internal democracy that the APC has come to be known for, both at the state and national levels.
According to him, the successful conclusion of the party’s primary election, despite the large number of aspirants who initially indicated interest in the ticket, demonstrated the party’s ability to manage internal competition and prioritise collective interest over personal ambition. He added that the outcome should be dedicated to the APC leadership, party members and, in particular, the aspirants who willingly stepped down for the sake of unity.
Oyintiloye noted that prior to the primary, some political observers had predicted an implosion within the party due to the number of contenders. However, he said the seamless process proved such predictions wrong and underscored the strength of the APC’s leadership structure.
“With Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate and the APC’s impending victory at the polls, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu will be translated into good governance in Osun without a hitch,” Oyintiloye said.
He stressed that with the primary election now concluded, the focus of the party should shift fully to the main governorship poll. According to him, Oyebamiji’s candidacy represents a strategic and well-considered step towards reclaiming Osun State for the APC.
“We must, however, work hard as a family united with a purpose for the victory to be won,” he added, calling on party members to close ranks and intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state.
Oyintiloye commended the intervention and guidance of key party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, former Osun State governor Chief Bisi Akande, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegoyega Oyetola, and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a successful and peaceful primary election.
He further appealed to the APC leadership in Osun State to continue strengthening the party’s structures to make victory at the polls less stressful. Oyintiloye expressed confidence that, if elected governor, Oyebamiji would lead a people-oriented administration focused on policies and programmes that would positively impact the lives of residents.
He concluded by urging party members across the state to redouble their efforts, remain united and work collectively towards returning the APC to power in Osun State in 2026.
