The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) celebrated mothers on Sunday, March 15, 2026, for their hard work in family and nation building.
In a statement by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the party marked the occasion “Mothering Sunday” to acknowledge women for their love, strength, and the roles they play in the community.
The statement read, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State proudly joins millions of families across Nigeria and the world in celebrating mothers on the occasion of Mothering Sunday, a special day dedicated to honor the love, sacrifice, strength and invaluable contributions of mothers to our families and society.”
The Lagos APC praised mothers for being the backbone of society and affirmed that mothers do a lot of work to raise the next generation of leaders and keep homes together.
According to the party, women are not just caregivers but are also very important in government, business, and education.
The statement read, “Mothers remain the backbone of our communities, playing critical roles not only in family life but also in governance, enterprise, education and community development.”
The party appreciated the daily sacrifices mothers make, explaining that their kindness and guidance help to make Lagos State a better and more stable place.
As the statement pointed out, many women in Lagos contribute to the state’s economy through trade and public service.
The party recognised mothers who are active in politics and community work. Their efforts, the party said, are part of the reasons why Lagos continues to grow and stay successful.
The Lagos APC thanked those who are currently raising young children and women “whose wisdom continues to guide generations”.
The party maintained its commitment to supporting programmes that help women and their families, stating its promise to continue creating opportunities for mothers to succeed.
“As a party committed to inclusive growth and social welfare, we reaffirm our support for policies and initiatives that empower women and mothers, enhance family welfare, and create greater opportunities for them to thrive.”
In a final remark, the Lagos APC thanked every woman and mother for their sacrifices and wished all of them a happy celebration.
