The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its full weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s New Year address, declaring unwavering commitment to his administration’s reform agenda and insisting there will be “no retreat” despite opposition criticism.
In a statement issued during the new year celebration by the party spokesman Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC aligned itself unequivocally with the President’s message, which projected 2026 as the start of a more robust phase of economic growth.

Oladejo emphasised that President Tinubu would not be “stampeded, blackmailed, or distracted” by detractors offering only “recycled excuses and empty rhetoric”.
Describing the President’s address as a “blunt reminder” that leadership involves tough choices rather than popularity contests, Oladejo praised Tinubu for confronting challenges that previous administrations avoided.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is not a slogan it is a reset, and resets are never painless,” he said.
The party highlighted measurable progress under the administration, including stabilising macroeconomic indicators, rebounding investor confidence, infrastructure investments, and advances in national security.
These gains, it argued, were the “early dividends” of resolute leadership, despite what it called the “orchestrated hysteria of a disoriented opposition”.
Oladejo dismissed critics as “the very architects of yesterday’s decay”, noting that Nigerians had rejected their approach at the polls.
He stressed that the voices predicting doom today were the same ones responsible for past mismanagement.

As Nigeria’s political and economic powerhouse, Lagos positioned itself firmly in support of the President. “Lagos understands reform. Lagos has lived it. Lagos knows that progress demands discipline, patience, and sacrifice,” Oladejo stated, pledging that the state APC would continue to defend and advance Tinubu’s vision “without apology”.
Urging citizens to remain resolute, the statement concluded: “There will be no retreat. There will be no distraction. Nigeria is moving forward whether the cynics like it or not.”
