The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced a comprehensive electronic membership registration and revalidation drive across all 245 wards in the state.
The initiative, which began on Monday, 5 January 2026, is scheduled to run until the end of January, allowing ample time for both existing members and prospective newcomers to be captured in a unified digital database.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo yesterday, the exercise is described as a pivotal reform aimed at bolstering internal democracy, ensuring data accuracy, and positioning the APC for future electoral challenges.

“The adoption of digital registration will help eliminate duplication and impersonation, ensuring that every member is accurately documented and verifiable,” Oladejo stated.
He emphasised that the move guarantees equal recognition for long-standing and new members, dismantling gatekeeping practices and fostering greater transparency within the party’s structures.
Oladejo further highlighted the necessity of a credible membership registry for conducting fair congresses, primaries, and leadership selections.
By leveraging technology, the APC seeks to attract greater participation from youths, professionals, and first-time political entrants, while enhancing grassroots mobilisation and overall electoral preparedness.
The spokesman declared the exercise “neither optional nor cosmetic,” but a compulsory step towards maintaining party discipline and dominance in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
“The APC has chosen the path of order, structure, and transparency over chaos and arbitrariness,” he added.
This nationwide APC e-registration drive, mirrored in states like Kwara and Sokoto, underscores the ruling party’s commitment to modernising its operations ahead of anticipated congresses and the 2027 general elections.
Party leaders have urged all members and supporters in Lagos to participate actively, viewing it as a shared responsibility essential for sustained growth and democratic integrity.
