The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticised former presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of habitual knee-jerk reactions to national issues.
The rebuke comes in response to Obi’s recent comments on President Bola Tinubu’s private vacation, which the APC deems unwarranted and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Saturday, APC spokesperson Mogaji Seye Oladejo labeled Obi as a “professional complainer-in-chief,” urging the Labour Party leader to adopt a more constructive approach to opposition politics.

Obi had linked Tinubu’s vacation to ongoing security concerns in Nigeria, a stance the APC dismissed as an attempt to score cheap political points.
Oladejo argued that Obi’s criticisms were more about seeking relevance than offering tangible solutions to the nation’s challenges.
“Peter Obi’s constant moralizing and fault-finding are becoming a distraction,” Oladejo said.
“Rather than engaging in endless criticism, he should focus on presenting meaningful policy alternatives that contribute to national development.”
The APC warned that Obi’s approach risks tarnishing his image as a statesman and eroding public trust in his leadership.
The APC emphasised that Tinubu’s vacation does not impede effective governance.
Oladejo highlighted that modern technology allows leaders to stay connected with their teams, including security operatives, regardless of their location.
“The President remains fully engaged in the administration of the country, even while on a well-deserved break,” Oladejo stated.
“Governance in the 21st century is not confined to physical presence.”
The Lagos APC further accused Obi of exploiting national issues for political gain, describing his criticisms as theatrical and lacking substance.
The party stressed that under Tinubu’s leadership, the administration is focused on economic recovery, strengthening national security, and improving governance.
“While Obi indulges in grandstanding, Tinubu is steering Nigeria toward progress,” Oladejo added.
The APC’s statement called for more responsible opposition politics, urging Obi to contribute positively to national discourse.
“Opposition is not about tearing down the government at every turn,” Oladejo noted.

“It’s about offering ideas that move the country forward. Nigerians deserve better than divisive rhetoric.”
The APC reiterated its commitment to transformative governance under Tinubu, urging all political actors to prioritize unity and constructive dialogue for the benefit of Nigerians.
